About the film
Sara Crewe's father calls her his "little princess" before leaving for war and placing her at a London boarding school run by the imperious Miss Minchin. Well treated at first for the fine education her father's money buys her, Sara becomes the target of Miss Minchin's resentment once her father is reported missing in action and the fees stop arriving — reduced to menial work at the same school that once fêted her. Vladimir Grammatikov's adaptation of Frances Hodgson Burnett's novella is narrated by Alexei Batalov.
